The Voyager of the Seas cruise ship, owned by Royal Caribbean, at the French Riviera ANDIA/GETTY IMAGESBaillie Gifford’s £887 million Monks Investment Trust has outperformed its benchmark index, booking a 13.6 per cent net asset value total return compared with 7.3 per cent for the FTSE World Index. Monks highlighted strong performances from technology companies including Alibaba, Samsung Electronics, Nvidia and Facebook for the six months to October 31. Royal Caribbean Cruises and Teradyne, which supplies test equipment, also did well in the half year. Monks did not pay an interim dividend. Baillie Gifford is an independent investment manager based in Edinburgh with £173 billion of funds under management.
