North Korean envoy arrives at White House to discuss summit with Trump

Kim Yong-chol, aide to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has arrived at the White House in Washington D.C. to discuss a possible summit in Singapore on June 12 with President Donald Trump. Media reports in the United States said Kim Yong-chol would hand-deliver North Korea’s response to President Trump’s announcement cancelling the June 12 summit in Singapore weeks ago. American and North Korean officials have been dispatched to Singapore. President Trump had said the summit was cancelled and then possible again. On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Kim Yong-chol in New York and expressed optimism that a summit could happen and announced additional conditions for the meetings, Axios reported.
