more-inAs many as 64 drivers and conductors of buses operating in the vicinity of Inter-State Bus Terminals (ISBTs) in the Capital have been fined to combat “alarming levels” of noise pollution. An order to fine bus drivers honking inside ISBTs and conductors, trying to fill their buses by attracting passengers, was issued recently by the Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (DTIDC) which maintains ISBTs at Kashmere Gate, Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan. “So far 43 drivers have been fined for honking inside bus terminals. Twenty one conductors have also been fined for shouting to solicit passengers,” said a government official. It has been observed that noise pollution at the ISBTs in the Capital has reached an alarming level and immediate steps were required to address this problem.
