The first executive committee of the Samagra Shiksha Kerala, formed after subsuming the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, has approved a ₹1,506-crore draft Plan for implementing academic activities this financial year. The draft Plan will be presented at a meeting to formulate the annual Plan at the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development on May 10. The executive committee, presided over by General Education Secretary A. Shajahan, approved projects from the primary to the higher secondary and vocational higher secondary levels. The draft Plan proposes to overhaul language improvement programmes such as Malayalathilakkam, Hello English, and Surili Hindi and extend them to more levels and schools. Learning improvement programmes, teacher training, and new training activities for sectors, including vocational, are included in the draft Plan.
