NEW DELHI: The government is bullish about the prospects of India’s telecom sector in the medium to long-term, given the surging demand for data, a top government official said, adding that the current situation of stress faced by the sector was temporary and there are no significant job losses.“The current situation is a temporary phenomenon. We haven’t even begun to scratch the surface in terms of data. But there is enough for everyone to grow,” Sundararajan said.She also dispelled reports of huge job losses.“There is consolidation. Is the government set to increase the tenure of payments for auctioned airwaves as well as lower interest to be paid on dues? We don’t have the luxury of time,” the senior official said.
