Amid reports of several IT companies laying off employees, a software engineer on Wednesday committed suicide in Maharashtra's Pune over concerns about his job security. The engineer who has been identified as Gopikrishna Durgaprasad (25) was a resident of Krishna district​ in Andhra Pradesh and had started working in Pune three days ago. Durgaprasad left a suicide note written and signed in English, saying he was worried for his family, reported Hindustan Times. When that did not work out, he went to the terrace of the four-storied hotel and jumped to his death." A forum for IT Employees (FITE), representing software professionals in various companies had also requested state governments to look into the issue of 'terminating' employees by IT companies.
