No Indictments in Fatal Shooting by West Virginia Deputies


A grand jury has declined to issue an indictment against sheriff's deputies in the fatal shooting of a West Virginia man while searching his home for another man. David Romanoski was killed in November while a group of deputies were searching for a man suspected of armed robbery. The man deputies were there to arrest later turned himself in to the Monongalia County Sheriff's Office. The deputy who shot Romanoski has not been publicly identified, and was returned to duty after being cleared in a departmental review. Sherriff Al Kinser said he was pleased with the decision after the grand jury considered the evidence.
