Nima landowners back Baba Jamal ahead of NDC Ayawaso East primaries

Politics of Tuesday, 3 February 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comTraditional landowners of Nima have thrown their support behind Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, as he contests the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries for the Ayawaso East Constituency. The endorsement came at a press conference in Accra on February 3, 2026, addressed by Nii Odoi Kwao II, Head of the Nii Odoi Kwao Family of Osu, who hold the allodial title to the Akanetso lands, which include present-day Nima and surrounding communities. He stressed that Nima residents are not strangers or settlers, noting that several court rulings had long affirmed Nima’s status as legitimate Ga land. “We believe in the leadership of Baba Jamal and we support his bid to contest and win the seat, “ he said. Baba Jamal is among other candidates who have picked forms to contest the Ayawaso East seat following the death of the sitting MP, Mahama Naser Toure, in early January 2026.
