CAIRO - 9 March 2021: President Abdel Fattah el Sisi said that Egypt and Sudan share a historical relation as old as the Nile River, and that both countries are keen on preserving their relations and to develop it. Regarding the Ethipoian dam, Sisi said that Nile River is ‘life itself’ for both of Egypt and Sudan, so they are still calling on reaching a legal-binding agreement regarding the Renaissance Dam filling and operating. “What unites us with Nile River is much stronger than any form of disagreement” Sisi affirmed, noting that negotiations cannot last forever. Sisi also said that Egypt’s national security is as important as the Gulf security and other Arab countries in the region including Libya. He also honored officers who were injured in the turbulent period following the 2013 ouster of the Muslim Brotherhood regime, and veteran officers who were injured in the Israeli-Egyptian wars until 1973.
