'Nightmare nanny's' cousin crept into home and took babyCHRIS SKELTON/STUFF Sydnee Toulapapa was sentenced at the Auckland High Court for creeping into an Auckland home and kidnapping an 11-day-old baby girl. On August 9, 2017 Toulapapa crept into a house in the Auckland suburb of Epsom wearing a home-made balaclava and took the 11-day-old baby from her cot. Defence lawyer Annabel Creswell told the court Manukau-Togiavalu had approached her cousin asking for help. In his sentencing Justice Woodhouse said Toulapapa's adult life would be "permanently blighted in significant ways before it's even started". "The gravest aspect of your offence is the significant harm you inflicted on the parents of the baby you abducted and it was significant," Justice Woodhouse said.
