“So, we are hopeful that by next week, we will sign the agreement for the looted assets. So, the amount upon signing the MOU will be remitted from the Island of Jersey within a number of days agreed upon,” Malami said. Though negotiations have not commenced on the duo, the federal government would do everything possible to recover the €6.8 million looted by Ibori, he added. Despite efforts of the Nigerian government to rid the country of corruption, the menace is still firmly entrenched in all parts of society. And this is most likely why many do not trust the Nigerian government on the management and appropriation of funds, most especially recovered looted assets.
