New wave of rains and storm raises worry of another flood in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: Heavy rain and strong winds lashed here today, causing trees to be uprooted in several areas and raising fear of another wave flash flood in the state. The storm which started at about 3pm toppled over trees in Bayan Lepas and Balik Pulau at about 4pm. It was forecast that thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds would persist until early this evening. Last Friday, continuous downpour led to massive flash floods in some 100 areas in the state. Hundreds of families were affected by the flash floods, which also damaged cars and brought the state to a standstill.
