SIBU: A former convict and his son claimed trial at the Sessions Court here today to nine counts of committing sexual crimes against an underage female member of their family, who is seven-years-old. Both the accused, aged 53 and 25, respectively, were separately prosecuted before Judge Caroline Bee Majanil. His son, who is the girl’s uncle, also faced the same charges. They were charged under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which was read together with Section 16 of the same Act. The second accused also faced an additional charge of showing pornographic material to the victim at the same location in the same period.
