The Minister of Education Prof. GL Peiris has decided to launch a program to provide new text books to children whose school text books have been destroyed due to inclement weather in the country, said the Secretary to the Ministry, Prof. Kapila Perera. The Secretary said this while addressing the media in Colombo yesterday (08). He said that after the children inform the principal of their school, the principal will inform the Ministry of Education through the divisional and zonal directors. He further said that the deadline for applications for the admission of children to the first grade for the year 2022 has been extended to one month from June 30, 2021 due to the prevailing Covid situation.
