A special gazette notification has been issued to establish a new university named the Vavuniya University with effect from August 01. According to the powers of the Universities Act, the Minister of Education Prof. GL Peiris has issued the relevant gazette notification. Accordingly, the Vavuniya Campus of the Jaffna University will be canceled from July 31, the gazette notification said. The new University of Vavuniya will be established to promote and enhance higher education in the branches of Business Studies, Applied Sciences and Technical Studies. The Faculty of Business Studies consists of the Department of Finance and Accounting and Teaching English, Project Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Business Economics and Management and Entrepreneurship.
