New system to slash trademark rejections

Auramon Supthaweethum, director-general of the DIP, said there were 55,668 trademark registration applications in 2025, up 8.5% year-on-year, and 40,063 were approved. This system allows applicants to upload their trademarks and check for potential identicality and similarity with existing registered trademarks in the database. The results from this system will help applicants conduct a preliminary evaluation and determine whether their intended trademark has a reasonable chance for registration. The department also introduced the "Trademark Checker" feature, which connects to its trademark database. The system provides basic guidance to applicants on preparing their trademark registration applications, including details on the relevant goods and services.
