A giant sunfish that washed up on a South Canterbury beach may be a species that has only recently been identified. Pareora woman Susan Caird was with her mother walking her dog when she spotted the fish on Pareora Beach. SUSAN CAIRD/SUPPLIED Pam Oxlade from Bromley in Kent, England was visiting her daughter when they found a sunfish washed up on a Pareora beach. A Ministry for Primary Industries spokeswoman said reports of sunfish washing up on Pareora Beach had not been seen "in at least 20 years".
