(CNN) LaShenda Williams beams with gratitude every time she enters the Inglewood, Nashville, Kroger store in Tennessee. Balancing a learning disability on top of an unstable family life, Williams spent most of her school years in special education, often being told that she was not smart or capable of maintaining an independent life. In Nashville, Williams decided instead to venture out on her own, working odd jobs to support herself. Williams has a new home but still has the same car where she once lived, outside of the Nashville Kroger store. This is where I belong with my Kroger family and all my customers who are my babies.
