(Photo: Jun Seong Yi)South Korea’s first dinosaur fossil find in 15 years has been named "Doolysaurus huhmin", a name influenced by the country’s iconic children’s cartoon dinosaur. The dinosaur remains have been dated to around 113 million years ago. And our specimen is also a juvenile or ‘baby’, so it’s perfect for our dinosaur species to honour Dooly.”The fossil is the third named species of dinosaur to be discovered in South Korea. Off the southwestern coast of South Korea at a dig site in Aphae Islands, the fossil was found encased in solid rock. Scientists placed the specimen into a micro-CT scanner, revealing the first piece of dinosaur skull ever found in South Korea.
