New development earmarked for Waimate's main streetAl Williams/Stuff The building at 84 Queen St, Waimate that is to be demolished. A proposal to demolish a prominent 99-year-old Category C heritage building in central Waimate has the unanimous support of the district council. "It's great to see a new development, it will be good for the main street. "I can tell you the applicant does not want to see a town with buildings that are unsympathetic to Waimate." The motion to acknowledge the written notice of the intention to demolish the building was moved by Rowley and seconded by Cain.
