Warren Lewis, of Port Chalmers, is concerned about new blue cod regulations for Dunedin-area recreational fishers. PHOTO: GREGOR RICHARDSONNew rules for recreational blue cod fishers off Dunedin’s coast are a "debacle", a long-time Port Chalmers fisherman says. "Recreational fishers in the greater Dunedin area have been shafted by the sheer incompetence of these proposed recreational bag limits," Mr Lewis said. "Fisheries New Zealand acknowledges the new rules will have an impact on some recreational fishers and will continue to discuss them with recreational fishers and fishing clubs. "We will also carry out an online survey of recreational fishers later this year to monitor the effectiveness and impacts of the blue cod changes."
