He points out that the main reason for this is that weddings are not held due to the travel restrictions imposed due to the Covid pandemic. “About 350,000 babies are born each year, but the number of babies born in a year has dropped drastically due to the absence of weddings. The number of people who have died because of Covid so far is about 3,500 but we could have balanced that out with the new births,” he said.
