Taranakians Ramidu Galappaththi and his wife Lidiia Berkutova are separated on the other side of the world due to border restrictions. But while on holiday, Covid-19 took hold of the world, and the New Zealand and Sri Lankan borders closed. Galappaththi and Berkutova are both on New Zealand work visas and in the process of applying for permanent residency. Galappaththi is now stuck in Sri Lanka, while Berkutova was forced to return to Russia as she was on a Sri Lankan tourist visa.
