Konkan Railway’s (KR) plans to replace conventional coaches with the modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches on Konkan Kanya Express and Mandovi Express comes with a key tradeoff: fewer seats in the sleeper class. The two trains will run with 22 LHB coaches from June 10 as opposed to the 24 conventional coaches. “LHB coaches have a higher capacity than conventional coaches. Conventional coaches have 72 seats, and 792 seats in the sleeper class. The coaches also have wider windows and better ventilation than conventional coaches.
