Promoted as a non-governmental and non-profit organisation, the Boao Forum was founded in 2001as China’s answer to Davos. While no official Indian participation in the Boao Forum has been indicated so far, the recent thaw in India-China bilateral relations sets anew context. Beijing and New Delhi are in the process of resetting the economic and political relationship after their differences over border and related issues. NITI Aayog vice chairman Rajiv Kumar will also be in Beijing participating in an economic dialogue. These visits were preceded last month by the visit to India of China’s trade minister Zhong Shan.
