New Covid-19 cases soar by 1,116 cases in 24 hoursNew COVID-19 cases have soared by 1,116 in the past 24 hours in the country, according to the latest government data, taking the total caseload to 1,592,209. The death toll rose by one in the same period, taking the toll to 28,099 on Saturday, reports bdnews24.com. As many as 19,275 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 5.79 per cent. The latest figures put the recovery rate at 97.39 per cent and the mortality rate at 1.76 per cent. Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
