New Brunswick sees jump of 58 COVID-19 cases over weekend, as region’s numbers rise

HALIFAX - Health officials in New Brunswick have reported 58 new cases of COVID-19 since Saturday, as case counts across the Atlantic region crept upwards over the weekend. About 85 per cent of the fresh New Brunswick cases involve people who were not fully vaccinated, with most of the infections occurring in the Moncton area. Nova Scotia is also seeing a rise in their case counts, as public health has reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 since last Friday, bringing the total number of active cases to 41. Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer of health, says most of the new cases are related to travel, with some cases “linked directly back” to people entering the province from New Brunswick. There are two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador today.
