Charter operator Pure Salt is busy installing new Bluetooth chips to its traps on Indian Island in Dusky Sound. A commercial charter operator is busy installing new Bluetooth technology to help monitor pest eradication on a small island in Dusky Sound. Pure Salt has been installing Bluetooth technology to 200 self-resetting traps it has already installed on Indian Island. The new technology, called Chirp by Goodnature, sends a notification to a smartphone app every time a trap kills a pest, and reminds users when to reset traps. The current tracking rate on the island is 20 per cent which is considerably lower than mainland averages, she said.
