People were surprised at the nature of the charges leveled against Ocampo, Castro and their companions — human trafficking and kidnapping. The minors were supposedly students of the Salugpungan Learning Center, a Lumad school. The group was on a “solidarity mission” to check on the plight of Lumad children. But it is also hard to accept fully the military’s statement that the progressives are carrying out massive abuse of the Lumad children. It is unfortunate that the Lumad people and their children are caught in a tug of war between the military and the Left.
