Photo: StockNestlé is recalling specific batches of its SMA infant formula and follow-on formula due to the potential presence of a toxin called cereulide. Cereulide is produced by some strains of the bacterium, bacillus cereus, which can cause food poisoning. There have been no reported cases of illness in relation to the formula to date, with the recall being classed as a “precautionary measure.”Baby formula products have been recalled by Nestlé.
