KATHMANDU, Nepal, March 29, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - A Nepal court on Sunday extendedby five days the detention of former prime minister KP Sharma Oli and hishome minister after their arrest over alleged involvement in a deadlycrackdown on the 2025 protests that ousted him. Shrestha noted that the court has also said the former prime minister shouldget the medical care he requires. Oli appeared in court via video-link from a hospital on Sunday, where he wasadmitted on Saturday following a procedural check-up. The Supreme Court is due on Monday to consider a petition for Oli andLekhak's release, court spokesman Arjun Prasad Koirala said. "The prime minister has made a hasty decision that could push the countrytowards confrontation," said Tejila Thapa, 44, a supporter of Oli.
