A Nelson man has been convicted on multiple charges of assault after punching his mother in the head during an argument. A Nelson man went on a destructive rampage after beating his mother, a court has heard. In the Nelson District Court on Monday, Isaac James Ogrady-Byrne pleaded guilty to two charges of assault, wilful damage and disorderly behaviour. Ogrady-Byrne verbally abused his mother until his partner tried to intervene by sitting in his mother's lap. Ogrady-Byrne will be sentenced in April, after restorative justice options are explored with his mother and the police officer he assaulted.
