Chukwudi AkasikeMen of the Nigerian Navy on Saturday rescued an unnamed naval rating and his daughter, who were kidnapped on Thursday, December 28, 2017. The operatives also arrested five notorious kidnappers after a gun battle in the Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. A statement by the Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder, Port Harcourt, Commodore Samson Bura, indicated that the naval personnel and his daughter were kidnapped at about 8pm between Ozuoha and Omademe communities in the Ikwerre LGA. The statement read in part, “The suspects conspired and kidnapped personnel of the Nigerian Navy and his daughter at about 8pm on Thursday, December 28 around Ozuoha/Omademe communities in Ikwerre LGA. Consequently, the navy mobilised a quick response team in collaboration with other security agencies towards rescuing the personnel and his daughter.
