KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Navy is working closely with Telekom Malaysia to perfect the K3M application in an effort to reduce crimes at sea. The cooperation between the two parties on K3M – which stands for Awareness, Safety and Maritime community in Bahasa Melayu – is focusing on the aspect of coverage, as the application requires internet access, and coverage is minimal at sea. Chief Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin said the K3M application will facilitate speedy assistance provided to the maritime community in emergency situations. The application, he said, will make it easier for the maritime community to report any incidents and suspicious activities in the nation’s waters. Up to 4,000 downloads of the application have been recorded so far since it was launched on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store in March.
