Olympics and Worlds medallist Mirabai Chanu set three new National records as she totalled 205kg to win the women’s 48kg title on the opening day of the National weightlifting championships here on Wednesday. Ahead of this year’s Asian championships, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, 31-year-old Mirabai – who dropped down to 48kg following the rejig in weight classes last year and claimed a silver at the World championships in Forde, Norway, with an aggregate of 199kg (snatch 84kg, clean and jerk 115kg) – equalled her personal best total which she had achieved in 49kg at the 2021 Asian championships in Tashkent. The results (winners only): Women:Elite: 48kg: Mirabai Chanu (Mani) snatch 89kg, clean and jerk 116kg, total 205kg; Junior: Vani Puri (Pun) 78kg, 96kg, 174kg; Youth: Pungni Tara (SSCB) 68kg, 90kg, 158kg; 44kg: Youth: Parishmita Gogoi (SSCB) 63kg, 74kg, 137kg.
