Earlier, the government declared Monday a national day of mourning in memory of the Chawkbazar fire victims. It said they day will be observed to seek eternal peace for the departed souls of those killed in the fire, and to convey sympathy to the bereaved family members. Sixty-seven people were killed—and 41 others injured—in the devastating fire that raged through several buildings on Nandakumar Duta Road and Churihatta Shahi Mosque Road, of Chawkbazar, on Wednesday night.
