A product to help "treat and prevent" flat head syndrome in babies has won the Innovate Nelson start-up weekend competition. Nap Nanny wins Innovate start-up weekendMARTIN DE RUYTER The winning team in the Innovate Nelson competition, Alex Russell, Tom McKay, Jacinda Stallard, Calum Coombs, Jennifer Stewart, James Perham and Mathew Pottinger developed the NapNanny product at the weekend event. Nap Nanny mechatronics engineer Mathew Pottinger said flat head syndrome was a condition that caused a baby's head to have a flat spot or be misshapen. The team surveyed people and found that flat head syndrome "kept coming up" as an issue for parents. Innovate Nelson acting manager Jennifer Stewart said the weekend was "great" and wanted to acknowledge Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology, the Nelson Regional Economic Development Agency and Nelson City Council for its sponsorship.
