KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial rapper and film director Namewee was freed on police bail today after being remanded since last Friday. Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, 34, was released from the Dang Wangi district police headquarters at 1.45pm. Dang Wangi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shaharuddin Abdullah, confirmed the matter and said police have completed their questioning. Meanwhile, efforts to interview Namewee proved futile. Namewee was arrested under Section 298A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988.
