Hundreds of meat dealers risk being put out of business following plans to close Naivasha slaughterhouse for lack of water. One week ago, Naivasha Water Company cut off supplies to the facility that employs over 100 workers. Veterinary department at the county issued a notice on Monday after water supply to the abattoir was cut off over Sh1million debt. He said that their woes had been complicated by the closure of the road leading to the facility by prison officers on security grounds. Douglas Ng’ang’a, chairman of the Naivasha butchery operators, said the problem lies with elected leaders who have failed to address the problems at the slaughterhouse.
