Acting Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Chege Mwaura has put heads of various committees on the spot over pending statements. Chege said some of the statements are long overdue and some of the ward reps rely on them to take back information to their wards. An audit of the Second Session (2018) to date indicates that committees, and by extension, Chairpersons have not given Statements the commitment they deserve. "The Chair has noted with concern unexplained delays in responding to statements by Committees, lack of responses from the Executive and the poor management of responses on the floor," Chege said. From the last session (2018) the assembly had 27 pending Statements and currently, in the Third Session, there are 17 such Statements, totalling to 44 pending statements."
