Motorists using the electronic means of payment, either the Manual Toll Card (MTC) or Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) service, along the Nairobi Expressway will get discounted prices. The official noted that the discounted prices are in a bid to encourage motorists to use the electronic means as opposed to the cash method whereby users will pay the full amount. In order to access the ETC service, users have to pay a minimum fee of Ksh2,000 and a service charge of Ksh1,000. For MTC users, a minimum fee of Ksh2,000 and a service charge of Ksh300 are required. The official noted that mobile money transactions will not be used as it would cause traffic along the 27.1 kilometre road.
