Rotorua's controversial Lumbercube mill on the eastern suburbs of the city has been closed down. A heavy rain warning for the Hawke's Bay should come just in time to save the region from a potential winter drought. Whanganui man Mark Goodier is taking the Earthquake Commission (EQC) to court over his claim after the Whanganui flood last June. A formal apology has been issued by the Tauranga City Council for failing to decommission the sludge pond at the Te Maunga sewerage treatment works.
