The 2020 New Year honours are out and there are big wins in sport and popular culture. Two police veterans have received New Year Honours for their services to the New Zealand Police Force, one of whom took leadership of two tragic shootings in Hawke's Bay. Smith undertook key leadership roles in the response to the tragic fatal shootings of colleagues Constable Glenn McKibbin at Flaxmere in April 1996, and Senior Constable Len Snee in Napier, May 2009. STUFF Senior Sergeant Bryan Smith undertook a key leadership role in the response to the fatal shooting of colleagues Constable Glenn McKibbin at Senior Constable Len Snee in Napier. The officers, along with other recipients of New Year's Honours, will be invested with their Medals by the Governor General in ceremonies in 2020.
