Police are returning to Foxton Beach to examine the scene of a suspicious car fire, 5 kilometres north of the Foxton Surf Lifesaving Club, on Tuesday morning. A car was abandoned and torched on Foxton Beach in the dead of night. Emergency services were called out to the car fire, 5 kilometres north along the beach from the Foxton Surf Lifesaving Club, at 12.25am on Tuesday. Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman Chris Dalton said although firefighters got the blaze out fairly quickly, the car was completely burnt out. A police spokeswoman said police were returning to Foxton Beach later in the morning to examine the scene.
