A New Zealand-born mountaineer is reported to have died in an avalanche on Mont Blanc du Tacul in the French Alps. NZ-born mountaineer reported dead in French avalancheREUTERS/Denis Balibouse The NZ-born man was in the process of climbing the mountain, which is in the Mont Blanc massif, when he was swept away by a 600-metre long avalanche on Monday. Another two climbers, members of the PGHM mountain rescue team based in the area, were hospitalised after Monday's avalanche. The dead man was found in cardiac arrest by first responders from the PGHM. Several climbers were swept away in the avalanche.
