MANILA, Philippines – The National Security Agency (NSA) is looking at the possibility that drug syndicates crushed in President Duterte’s drug war might bankroll the ouster moves against him, Secretary Hermogenes Esperon Jr. said yesterday. Speaking at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay, Esperon bared that the NSA would unmask the groups as soon as they validate the information on the reported destabilization moves. He was apparently referring to reports that some Filipino-Americans want to oust Duterte as president by January 2017. Esperon also doubted that any ouster move against the President would succeed because of Duterte’s popularity. When asked to comment on reports that policemen could be involved in summary executions, Esperon said the administration has strengthened mechanisms of the Internal Affairs Office to deter cops from joining illegal activities.
