Thus, Ontario’s teachers are once again involved in “job action,” which involves not carrying out many of their usual duties. Parents earning substantially less than the $80,000-$100,000 that experienced teachers are paid are left to make alternative arrangements at whatever cost and inconvenience. Today’s teachers are expected to deal with students struggling with a wide array of social, health and personal challenges. Few Canadians enjoy annual pay increases as a right of birth, after all. Parents are fully aware of the generous pay and benefits teachers receive.
