The project to be funded by the Latter Day Saints Charities, will see 9 communities in the middle belt of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality have 8 new boreholes constructed and 10 of the existing damaged boreholes repaired in the first phase of the agreement. The locals suspected the condition to be waterborne induced by heavily polluted surface water serving the community as the only source of drinking water. Mrs. Rachel Annan said the revelation encouraged the initiative which will benefit other communities who are badly in need of portable water. A Project Implementation Committee made up of representatives from the Municipal Works Department, Municipal Social Development Department, Municipal Education Directorate, Municipal Environmental Department, Municipal Development Planning Department, representatives from the beneficiary communities and officials from the NGO was formed and inaugurated after the official signing of the MoU and launching of the project.
