National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) chief Ernesto Pernia on Friday announced his resignation, citing “personal reasons and differences in development philosophy” with some of his fellow Cabinet members. “I would like to thank the President (Rodrigo Duterte) for appointing me to the position. Malacañang confirmed that the President has accepted Pernia’s resignation and appointed Finance Undersecretary Karl Kendrick Chua as acting NEDA secretary. Pernia also thanked his colleagues at NEDA for trusting his leadership. [The] NEDA will be crucial to guiding our economic recovery efforts.
