Survivors of frontliners who are also employees of the Department of Health (DoH) who died because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) would receive an additional P500,000 insurance benefit from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). In a statement, GSIS President and General Manager Rolando Ledesma Macasaet noted that the additional benefit was approved by the state pension fund under the Bayanihan Fund for Frontliners (BFF). “This is on top of the P1-million death benefit to be provided by the government under the Bayanihan to Heal as One Law and the regular life insurance benefit from GSIS,” he said. In addition to this, the same survivors will also receive P500,000 under the BFF program. The BFF insurance cover will be effective from March 1 to Dec. 31, 2020.
